Enlisted in U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, 1977; attended Officer Candidate School, 1990 (reserve duty - branch chief, commercial fishing-vessel division). Maryland State Trooper, Maryland State Police, 1984-89. University of Maryland, B.S. (business administration & finance), 1988. Commercial workout and loan officer, 1989-94. Small business owner, 1995-97. Lieutenant, U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, on active duty (special projects manager & assistant to director of reserves & training), 1997-. Member (past & present), Reserve Officers Association; Maryland Troopers Association; Knollwood/Donnybrook Community Association. Recipient of Award for Duty Beyond the Call of Duty as Maryland State Trooper, from Anne Arundel County Executive, 1985. Outstanding Junior Officer, U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Office, Baltimore, 1994. Certificate of Achievement, Maryland Federation of College Republicans, 1995.
