Attended Calvert Senior High School; Charles County Community College, A.A., 1975; University of Maryland University College, B.S. (law enforcement), 1981; M.G.A. (state & local government), 1997. U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, El Paso, Texas, 1990. Served in U.S. Army, Republic of Vietnam, 1965-67 (U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal; Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; U.S. Army Air Assault Badge). Command Sergeant Major, 29th Infantry Division (L), Maryland Army National Guard, 1968-. Retired Maryland State Trooper. Member, Maryland Troopers Association; Maryland State Police Alumni Association; Fraternal Order of Police; Maryland Army National Guard Sergeants Major Association; Enlisted Association of the National Guard; 5th Maryland Veteran Corps; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post no. 8133. Member, University of Maryland University College Alumni Association; Maryland Saltwater Sport Fish Association. Trooper of the Year, Maryland State Police, 1976, 1977. Governor's Citation, 1994. Married; two children.
