Co-Chair, Governor's Task Force on Senior Citizen Activity Centers, 1983-84. Member, State Commission on Physical Fitness, 1985-89; State Advisory Council on Nutrition, 1996-; Maryland Commission on Criminal Sentencing Policy, 1998-. Past chair, Citizens' Advisory Board for Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents (RICA) - Rockville.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, B.S. (industrial relations). Former teacher, juvenile court probation counselor, businesswoman. Member, National Institutes of Health Bio-Safety Committee; Girl Scout Advisory Council; American Association of University Women (AAUW); Women's Political Caucus; Peerless Rockville and Gaithersburg Historic Preservation Associations; Montgomery County Arts Council. Board member: Maryland College of Art and Design; Rockville Arts Place; University of Maryland Center for Political Leadership; Asbury Methodist Homes Hospice Caring. Past member, Montgomery County Health Services Planning Board; Maryland Community Mental Health Council; Rockville Economic Development Council; Lung Association. Member, Methodist Board of Church and Society. Married; two children.
